Highest Common Multiple

For this weeks maths, group 1 is learning how to identify the higest common factors. Highest common factors is basically the largest whole numbers that divides into two or more numbers without any remainders. Remember , factors are numbers that we can multiply together to get a number. For example : 6 x 8 = 48.

Tech at Tamaki College

For tech at tamaki college my group and I are making Maori patterns out of sriting and wood, like harakeke there were holes in the wood that we got given and used the string to weve in and out from. The algorithm we used for weveing were 3 down to start, 2 left, 2 down and repeat. We had the opurtunity to pick the first colour to start off with then chose another after we were done oen by one. We used the colours to tell our story of what it repersents like yellow for the sun, blue for the sky or sea and many more. Then we started to weve and it started to look like a pattern that tell a story. This was a fun activity and I enjoyed seeing my patterns come together and tell a story. I can’t wait to go back next friday and finsh my pattern.

Short Division

For this week’s Maths , Group 1 learned how to do the division algorithm long and short. We figured out a way to solve the quotient but using the standard division method. Writing numbers in vertical with the bigger numbers on top. While you’re dividing the numbers, keep track of the remainder to make sure the problems have been solved correctly, using this method, lets us have a better understanding.

Rounding

LI : Understanding how to round numbers up to the billions place and three decimal places.

This week for Maths Group 1 worked on Rounding numbers. We created DLO’s showing how to use numbers and having an example to show how easy it is. Even if you find it difficult there are many ways to solve it. Remember to put commas when a number is over 1 million.

Multiplication DLO

LI: Understanding how to calculate the product of whole numbers, using algorithms

In LS2 this week in math group 2 we were doing multiplication algorithm . after we completed our work in our math books we went on our Chromebooks and created a dlo in our maths groups explaining how multiplication algorithm works and how to find the product. Here is my groups and I DLO on multiplication algorithm.

Subtraction Algorithm

LI: To understand how to caluclate the difference of whole numbers , using algorithms

In math in Ls2 we were doing our Subtraction algorithm work, after we were done our work in our maths book we went on our Chromebooks and created a DLO with our groups explaining how Subtraction Algorithm works. Here is me and my groups DLO.

Addition Algorithm

LI: To understand how to caluclate the sum of whole numbers , using algorithms

For this weeks Math we all have been givin a group to work in my group is group 2 and out first maths working out was addition algorithm. Our first step was to make sure that everyone was on the right page and then move to the Explore , Notice , Understand , Think About It And then Work in Examples , We all studied the first page together and then went in to pairs and did our own work . I really enjoyed learning maths because these ways help us have more understanding in the work we do.

Vision Board 2026

This week I created a vision board showing all of my goals and what I expect for me to do in the future. For my vision board I been given 2 choices to either go to st kentigern college or Howick college to carry on my rugby league journey to make it big ,  i’ve prepared myself during intermediate and I will take what i have learnt with me throughout my years in college. I can’t wait for what the upcoming years ahead have to bring and I in those years will show my full potential in what I am capable of.

Summer Learning Journey : Legs , Legs , Legs

For todays summer learning journey activity we needed to design a unique prosthetic leg for Mosha, an elephant who stepped on a landmine and lost one of her legs when she was only 7 months old. Many believed she wouldn’t survive, but compassionate individuals came together to create a new prosthetic leg for her. The design I drew on her prosthetic repersents her living environment. a fact I found out about Mosha is that she was the first elephant in the world to receive a functional prosthetic leg.
