Diary WW1

LI: To retell an event in history through the fictional eyes of someone who was there

We have been looking at the events that took place at ANZAC Cove on 25 April 1915, during WW1. Many of our NZ soldiers were wounded or killed in action. We looked at videos that showed the Anzac soilders life in the trenches, and explored the Walking with ANZACs site which let us to read Hami Grace’s diary. Doing this task helped us put our own diary entries together . We used Google Vids to record our diary entries. I enjoyed using this as it allowed me to create a better  setting like I was world war 1, and Something I found interesting about this task was being able to record reading while showing my face because it will allow me to rewatch the video and tell me what I need to work on while recording like my expression or where I need to change where it doesn’t make sense.

The Kuaka

LI: To create an infographic that tells others about the migration of the kuaka

During reading, Group 3 created an Infographic about the Kuaka bird. Did you know the scientific name for the Kuaka bird is Limosa lapponica. In our infographic DLO, we included their habitat, diet and appearance for others to learn and know more about it. Something I found interesting while reading information was that Kuaka bird holds the record for migrating to Alsaka to New Zealand and back, from this DLO I can see that we have learnt alot from each other and have collaborated  as a group.

Mapping the Migratory Flight of the Kuaka

LI: To use Google My Maps to show the migratory flight path of the Kuaka.

For our task we learnt about the Kuaka bird and where it travels daily around New Zealand. I went on Google maps to trace the path the kuaka took to migrate but first I  search up where does the kuaka bird travel around New Zealand when  they migrated from Alaska. We all know we got a lot of questions why can’t the kuaka bird just stay in one place around New Zealand. The food that that the Kuaka bird eats is Worms , Shellfish and Insects they usually eat it around Coastal Areas like beaches. They stop around New Zealand to refuel their body to have energy to fly to Alaska to their breeding grounds. A interesting fact about the Kuaka bird is that they fly up to 12,000 kilometers from Alaska to New Zealand.

Dot to Dot Connections: The Kuaka

LI: To draw the lines between the words to show how the connections you have made.

For reading me and my group did a dot to dot connection about the kuaka bird we had to use our smart searching skills to find 7 words that realtae to the kuaka and conncet the words for example Migration and Habitat to make an connection with these 2 words we could say, the kuaka migrate to Alsaka to find a new better environment for a habitat. I had lots of fun finding out new information about the Kuaka, A fact I learnt was that the kuaka holds the world record for the fastest migration to Alaska to NZ and back.

working in groups

LI: To understand that everyone has a role to play when we are working in groups

In LS2 we learn best when we learn with and from ecah other what your responsibility as a group member is How working in a group helped you understand more about the kuaka Why talking to others about your learning is important because you can learn infomation you never knew before, Something I enjoyed was learning new info and facts about Kuaka from my class mates.

Features of a Procedural Text.

Today I have been working on features of a procedural text . What is a procedural text is a text is a text that shows instructions and that shows you how to make something step by step. I did well at tracing, I enjoyed learning new things about procedural text and I need to work on adding more detail. Here is my work.
